      县域空间学校进城背景下,农村家庭的学校选择突破了“流动”与“留守”的二元框架,呈现多样化选择的可能性,这与家庭生活的重构紧密相关。本文基于中部仁县的田野调查,探讨农村家庭择校的决策过程及其分化。农村家庭的择校决策展现出理性评估与责任伦理之间的张力。责任伦理表现为家庭化的教育义务,生产出“创造条件”的话语和实践,而非单纯的学业竞争,这与城市中产阶级家庭学校选择上的这与城市中产阶层家庭学校选择上的“助力模式”形成鲜明差异。理性评估则要权衡教育投入的条件和收益。在资源相对充足的家庭中对经济条件优越的家庭来说,县城新城区公办学校成为择校首选。进城购房的家庭通过夫妻分工和祖辈的动员性支持共同实现择校目标;“找关系”入学的家庭通过市场化托管服务兼顾子女照料与家庭生计。对于经济资源条件受限的家庭来说,就读乡镇学校成为不得已的选择,祖辈协助提供照料;对于祖辈支持受限的留守儿童,祖辈将照料和监管责任向民办寄宿学校转移,民办学校成为家庭的“功能性补位”。农村家庭的择校决策展现出责任伦理与理性评估之间的张力。

      Under the context of educational urbanization, the school choices of rural families have transcended the binary framework of “migration” and “left-behind” framework, presenting the possibility of diversified choices closely related to the changes in caregiving arrangements and living patterns. Based on field work in Ren County in central China, this paper explores the decision-making process and differentiation of rural families’ school choices. The decision-making process shows the tension between rational evaluation and ethical responsibility. The ethic of responsibility manifests as a family-oriented educational obligation, which generates the discourse and practices of “creating conditions” to secure quality educational resources for children, rather than merely engaging in academic competition. This sharply contrasts with the “facilitation model” employed by urban middle-class families in their school choice. Rational evaluation requires balancing the conditions and benefits of educational investment. For families with relatively sufficient resources, public schools in urban areas become the first choice. Families that move into urban areas achieve their school choice goals through the division of labor between spouses and mobilized support from grandparents. Families who gain school admission through “guanxi” balance childcare and family livelihoods by utilizing market-based boarding services. For families with limited economic resources, attending township schools becomes an unavoidable choice, with both parents and grandparents jointly fulfilling caregiving responsibilities. But for left-behind children with limited support from grandparents, the caregiving and supervision responsibilities are transferred to private boarding schools, which provides a “functional substitute” for the family. The decision-making process shows the tension between rational evaluation and ethical responsibility.
