| There has been heated debate on the different paths for the development of modern Chinese agriculture in the academic field. One side claims to develop large-scale agriculture, whereas the other prefers small-peasant approach. Also, another scheme characterized by family-owned farmland with appropriate scale is proposed. This thesis reviews the advantages and requirements of the three agricultural development paths, and points out three measures of agriculutural modernization are agricultural productivity, labor transfer and resource utilization. However, there is no unified standard to measure agricultural productivity and resource utilization is not included. Besides, it lacks of the attention to religional difference of labor transfer, and there is a disconnection between theory and practice, which are needed to solve in future research. Finally, this paper stresses that it is a comlicated thing to research agricultural modernization, and we should be very serious about it. Maybe the path of agricultural modernizaiton is not unique, but its basic direction is green agriculculture, and it needs to pay attention to the safety of product, ecosystem, resource and improve Comprehensive benefits, and coordinate them with the demand of common people. |
