| Agricultural-cultivating companies rose from the end of 19th century to early 20th century, at a time when China was ex-
periencing profound national crisis and some patriotic national entrepreneurs, driven by patriotic movements, tried to realize China's
agricultural modernization by way of learning the large-scale agricultural operation practice of the West. However, agricultural-culti-
vating companies ended with failure, due to various reasons, after practice of half a century. The article attempts to find out the caus-
es for its failure, by analyzing the impact of traditional agricultural thoughts on fund utilization, operation method and development
process of agricultural-cultivating companies, intended to learn lessons from past failures and successes, to see clearly China's history
and current situation and to realize China's agricultural modernization at an early day. |
